HuffPo Implies Palin Responsible for Arizona Shootings

UPDATE: DUPNIK BLAMES ‘VITRIOL’ ON RIGHT

I have to be specific and say, I don’t have that information yet,” Dupnik said. “The investigation is in its very initial phases. But my belief — and I’ve been watching what has been going on in this country for the last 75 years, and I’ve been a police officer for over 50 years, there is no doubt in my mind that when a number of people night and day try to inflame the public that there is going to be some consequences from doing that. And I think it’s irresponsible to do that.”

In one of the most deplorable examples of yellow journalism in years, the Huffington Post has implied that Sarah Palin may be responsible for the shooting of Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and others today.

“There is no evidence at this time that the shooting of Giffords was politically motivated, but it’s grimly ironic that the candidate appeared on a map of House Democrats “targeted” by Palin in 2010,” stated a report released by HuffPo at 3:31 PM EST.

Since there is no evidence (or intimation), why did HuffPo bring it up?

The report was released in response to Governor Palin’s FaceBook post, which stated: “My sincere condolences are offered to the family of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and the other victims of today’s tragic shooting in Arizona. On behalf of Todd and my family, we all pray for the victims and their families, and for peace and justice.”

HuffPo, owned by turncoat Republican Arianna Huffington, is a longtime practitioner of seedy attacks on Palin and the conservative right, but this is a new low. There is at this hour no indication that the shooter had any political motivation for the attack, in fact, stories are surfacing now that the shooter may be mentally disturbed.

For the Huffington Post to suggest that the shooting was in anyway motivated by Palin’s list of Democratic congressional “targets” from the 2010 campaigns is spurious and should be libelous.

UPDATE: FOX NEWS:

A preliminary review of Jared Lee Loughner’s criminal record reveals a 2007 arrest for possessing drug paraphernalia and two other minor infractions.

Records obtained from the Pima County, Ariz., crimes database show that Jared Lee Loughner, believed to be the man responsible for Saturday’s mass shooting in Tucson, which wounded Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and ended in the death of federal judge John M. Roll as well as at least four others, was arrested one day before his 19th birthday in 2007.

UPDATE: PIMA COUNTY SHERIFF SAYS GUNMAN ANIT SEMITIC.

Frugal Cafe.com:  “Even one left-wing member of law enforcement, Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik — who should know better than to spout off to the press before any concrete evidence has been affirmed — blames bigotry and hatred, saying that he believes that Arizona is the “Mecca for prejudice and bigotry.”What an appalling ass. The shooter and victims were WHITE (although the shooter loved reading Hitler’s book “Mein Kampf” and Rep. Giffords is Jewish, so Loughner is likely anti-Semitic). This slaughter had nothing to do with Arizona’s illegal immigration problem nor race issues — Dupnik, BTW, spoke out against Arizona SB 1070 and told the press months ago that he would NOT enforce itFire this jerk, Pima County.”

UPDATE: RED STATE:

“Unfortunately, the left is using this tragedy to score political points. Rep. Giffords was on Gov. Palin’s target list for defeat this past November. The left claims Gov. Palin has blood on her hands. So does the tea party movement.

Less than a year ago a gunman stormed into the Discovery Channel’s headquarters, taking hostages and threatening to kill them all. The left immediately accused the man of being a tea party activist.

Unfortunately for the left, the man turned out to be an envirowacko leftist raised on Algore’s global warming garbage.

Immediately, the left changed their tune and proclaimed that no longer could we as partisans accuse each other of causing things like this. There are just crazy people in the world and tragedies happen.

My, my how quickly they forget.”

LCL will continue to watch this throughout the weekend.

  1. You saw the map, didn’t you? No, she didn’t commit the act, but it is very irresponsible to use graphics such as rifle scopes to “target” the opposition. Are you so biased on the other side that you cannot see how this may have incited the young maggot who committed this heinous act to act in such a way to carry this out “request”?
To just pin this on simply mental illness is being naivè. If he had just shot up the supermarket, maybe that may give you some latitude to blame mental illness as the primary factor. What we see here, though, is a person with the synapses not firing correctly that is influenced by the message.
Again, this does not put Palin as the shooter but does lend some culpability to the map that Palin out there. The question of liability begs the question “without the map does this incident happen?”. I say it does not happen.

    • How absolutely absurd. I did see the map and any imbecile with a third-grade education could see clearly that Palin was targeting Democrats for defeat in the coming election. It was as American as apple pie and it’s whimped-out, anti-gun, anti-Palin, word-policing rhetoric like yours that gets these things started. I haven’t “pinned” it on anyone and neither should’ve you.
      Seek help.

  2. Right on! With all the of the anti-Palin talk, it’s a wonder someone hasn’t attacked her. The hatred on the left is outrageous and dangerous. This guy and his accomplice, if any, was a timebomb that didn’t need a reason for what he did.

    • The haters already tried to attack her. Don’t forget that a month after the 2008 election arsonists torched her church, and did so when there were clearly people inside. Palin nor her family were inside the building that night and Thank God no one was hurt but can anyone say with a straight face that this would have happened if she had remained an obscure governor instead of the VP candidate?

  3. […] left stepped out almost immediately after the shooting in Tucson Saturday to condemn anyone to the right of Gandhi for the actions of a […]
