Breitbart V. Van Jones: “Bring it on Punks”

In Can You Hear Me Now?, Civil Lefts, Disappearing Ink on 24/03/2011 at 20:57

Andrew Breitbart (LIFE.com)

It is a comedic slight of history that Andrew Breitbart grew up on the mean streets of West L.A. rather than those of Flatbush or Dorchester. He has the irreverence of Muggs McGinnis and the cutting literacy of Norman Mailer, although the conservative web mogul is almost certainly not what Mailer had in mind when he thought of The New Journalism.

Nevertheless, Breitbart, a former progressive, is a street fighter, an in-the-trenches journalist provocateur who has become the bane of the New Left. While Glenn Beck received the accolades, it was Breitbart who kneecapped Van Jones, sending Obama’s communist-Truther advisor skulking out of the White House after a midnight resignation.

You gotta love this guy.

While Beck tends toward the “special,” Breitbart gives off at least the illusion that he’ll meet you in the alley to settle the matter — whatever the matter. It was Breitbart who offered $100,000 for even a snippet of footage that would show that tea party activists either spat on black members of Congress or uttered racial slurs at last year’s protest on the Capitol steps. There have been no takers to date.

Breitbart also supported James O’Keefe’s first forays into citizen journalism, resulting in Congress’s defunding of ACORN. He has since supported pro-lifer Lila Rose and another O’Keefe outing in their exposés of Planned Parenthood.

The aforementioned are a mere smattering of incidents that have propelled the Left to target Andrew Breitbart. He is one of the few conservatives in the country who can lather progressives into a vitriolic rage on the level of Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh.

And wouldn’t you know it, Van Jones is behind the latest attack.

Color of Change — don’t you just love these lefto names — an activist group co-founded by Jones, is calling for a boycott against the Huffington Post for publishing two recent entries by Breitbart.

Andrew Breitbart is a liar and a race-baiter,” wrote the organization. “Breitbart targets key people and institutions within our community, in particular those who have dared talk about the reality of racism and race in this country — Shirley Sherrod, the NAACP, President Obama, the Congressional Black Caucus. And he targets those that seek to increase Black political participation, like ACORN.”

By way of outing Color of Change, they are the group who immediately took up the cause of the Jenna Six, the black teenagers convicted of viciously beating white student Justin Barker, at a Louisiana high school in 2006.

Talk about race baiting. This outfit makes Al Sharpton look like the George Jefferson when it comes to fostering racial animus.

Van Jones is the ultimate race-baiter and this latest attack on Breitbart is just one of many in his quest to silence the free press and bring down democracy. While we have no particular love for the HuffPo, we all must resist the Left’s attempts to silence anyone with whom they disagree.

Is NPR Liberal? Duh, Winning!

In Bowling for Dollars, Can You Hear Me Now?, Civil Lefts, Disappearing Ink on 10/03/2011 at 08:47

Vivian Schiller

James O’Keefe has done it this time. Dude, the hornets are out of the nest! Today’s news that NPR has canned CEO Vivian Schiller comes less than 24 hours after the conservative activist filmmaker released his scathing undercover report of liberal and racial bias within public radio. But how will Schiller’s departure affect the political leanings of NPR? Not in the slightest.

In the first place, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, who was no doubt behind Schiller’s firing today, has very little to do with the day-to-day programming of PBS or NPR. Oh, theoretically they rule the roost over NPR and PBS, but in actuality they spend most of their time being, well, bureaucratic.

Ask George W. Bush’s former CPB appointee Kenneth Tomlinson, who was ousted from the board in 2005, after he tried to balance NPR/PBS programming. Hey, here’s a cushy little government appointment—don’t rock the boat.

The simple reason why a mere reshuffling of board and staff members in the upper echelons of public broadcasting will not improve it, is because the member stations select the boards of these two networks. That’s right. While the CPB board is a six-year presidential appointment (the current CEO is a Bush appointee), both NPR and PBS appoint their board members internally.

That is not to say that the CPB cannot demand and receive the head of a NPR or PBS executive on a platter, as we have witnessed over the past two days. Obviously they can and will whenever a James O’Keefe jumps out of the bushes. But they normally do not impact network programming to any significant degree.

This is done by the member board, i.e. the stations. Of course they are subject to oversight by the public members of the board, like Schiller and Schiller, but for the most part they manage their own programming.

The truth of the federal government—the government most Americans rarely see—the nuts and bolts, day-to-day players who make up the inner workings of government, are overwhelmingly liberal. These are the middle management of every department and bureau in government today; liberalism is endemic within federal government.

And why wouldn’t it be? What we have seen occurring in Wisconsin and Ohio over the last month should be proof enough that anyone on the government dole is beholden to liberalism. Their entire professional existence is owed to government handouts.

This year, the CPB received $422 million from the government. Don’t trust those numbers, we got them from the government. But whatever the amount, the money allocated by Congress is granted irrespective of the programming we receive week after week, year in and year out.

So it is perfectly understandable that not only the boards of NPR and PBS are liberal, but that every employee working for them and all of their member stations are as well; they feed at the boundless and bottomless Public Through.

None of this is to say that James O’Keefe’s investigation was for naught. But the American people have been slow on the uptake before.

In the 1990s, Hillary Rodham Clinton launched the “Don’t Kill Big Bird” campaign after then speaker Newt Gingrich announced plans to cut funding for PBS and NPR. Virtually every mother with pre-school-age kids in the country was outraged.

And you know the rest.

James O’Keefe has done his part. Now it’s up to you.

Thank You James.

Red Hot Visas, Y’all!

In Disappearing Ink, The American Jihad, The Enemy Among Us, The Haters on 28/02/2011 at 17:20

The latest narrow miss in the US war with radical Islam was announced in Lubbock, Texas last week with the arrest of Khalid Ali-M Aldawsari, a Saudi student who obtained a visa through Condoleezza Rice’s State Department, to wage his jihad on America. This time possibly on her former boss.

This is visa scrutiny at its finest.

Visa applications in Islamic countries have always been carefully screened; there is a box on the bottom right that says, I WANT TO COME TO AMERICA TO:
a) go to university, b) attend commercial jet pilot’s school, c) bomb infidels? Khalid answered a).

The FBI would have closed in on Khalid sooner but they were waiting for him to shave his body and go on a strip club binge. That and he was a member in good standing of SEIU Local 722.

Hey, here’s a thought—just until the war is over mind you—why not put CLOSED FOR BUSINESS signs on US visa offices in Islamic countries? This is smart on two counts: it will undoubtedly save on attempted terrorist attacks, and secondly it will cut down on dorm room curry sauce fumigation costs.

Understand this is only a suggestion. It shouldn’t even be at the top of Homeland Security’s list; that should be X-raying US Army psychiatrists for bomb vests.

What is it about these people the United States government doesn’t get? This guy was quite possibly on his way to whack George W. Bush for God sake. What do they have to do to prove that they intend to destroy America, open Honor Killings R Us franchises?

Isn’t it bad enough that the southern border leaks like a sieve and Janet “Big Sis” Napolitano thinks we’re snug as a bug in a rug, without actually inviting extremists to come bomb us? These attempted attacks are coming with such frequency that they are barely make headlines. It is becoming difficult to discern which is most dangerous, the Muslim plot to establish a worldwide caliphate, or the media conspiracy to cover it up.

Think about it. The brain trust of Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar are the established leaders of the intelligentsia on all things Muslim. Hello?

Lubbock is yet another almost-event in which America but for the grace of God dodged a bullet.

According to FBI sources Khalid had been planning as early as high school to win a scholarship to the US, to study explosives and to prepare bombs. Not only was he awarded the scholarship and granted the visa but the university was helping him obtain the knowledge to blow us up!

Yet the singularity of purpose of the radical Muslim ideology seems lost on US military, law enforcement and intelligence services.

“Our investigation continues, however, the criminal complaint contains no allegations that he received any directions from any other persons, or was under the control of any foreign terrorist organization,” said Special Agent Mark White, a spokesman for the FBI’s Dallas office.. “We are confident that we have eliminated the alleged threat posed by this person.”

Somehow that fact is less than comforting when one considers that the pool of potential bombers could number as many as 110 million.

Perhaps Secretary Napolitano is right about the border after all. Why worry about illegal entrants into the country, when those who wish us harm have simply to fill out a visa application?
