Time to Break Government Unions

In Weekly Rant on 19/02/2011 at 17:57

This week a UC San Diego newspaper editor published an article saying that the student body vice president was a “fat whore,” and printed an obscene photo with the editorial. The administration of this partially taxpayer-funded institution refused to take action, because it was the student editor’s “First Amendment right” to print it.

View the actual editorial here at your own risk.

In Wisconsin this week we have seen a glowing example of the kind of educators that shaped the young patriot who exercised his freedom of speech so eloquently. The teachers who had to be escorted out of their state capitol under armed guard to prevent them from working themselves into a frenzied mob. Their Democratic Party cohorts in the legislature are vacationing out of state.

Progressivism is running amok in our in our schools across the nation and the bang-to- buck ratio parents should expect in quality education for their children is not good. Unless of course you think putting a teenage wrestling champ on the mat against his female counterpart is high math.

It begins early. The state of elementary, secondary and higher education in the United States is in meltdown, and yet we continue to reward so-called educators with ridiculous benefits. Kids no more than 12 years old are “coming out” as gays and lesbians in middle schools. This is also covered under First Amendment rights, school boards will tell you.

U.S. students are lagging behind the rest of the world academically; we continue to trail nations like South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Finland and Canada. We are graduating students who cannot read, and all too often the very teachers who we entrust to protect and educate our children are engaging in sex with them.

At a time when we should be requiring higher standards in education and the educators that provide it, bankrupt states like California are providing something called “air time” to the deadbeats they have hired to teach our children, so they can collect pension benefits for five years they have not served.

The situation in Wisconsin is simply the tip of the mammoth iceberg of government collective bargaining insanity.

In 1981, Ronald Reagan broke PATCO for just what is occurring in Wisconsin this week. It is time, past time, that state and federal legislators end collective bargaining for the public employees who serve at the pleasure of the American taxpayer. These people do not work for corporate America; they work for us, and as their employer we deserve better.

The Wisconsin and national RNC should support conservative activists who are launching recall drives against the legislators who have brought the government to a standstill.

Governor Scott Walker should pull out the stops and use every legal devise at his disposal to force the legislature to act and fire every teacher that violates the public trust.

In an environment where unemployment now tops 10 percent (actual numbers are closer to 20 percent) an abundance of surplus educators exists; it is time for the states to break the death grip the NEA has on U.S. education.

That Barack Obama has weighed in on the side of the teachers and legislators who are violating their trust is telling. Once again this president has shown himself too entrenched in his leftist ideology to fulfill his duties.

It is time for citizens everywhere to besiege the White House with telephone and emails and tell the President to stay out of states’ business. It is time to tell federal and state legislators that government employee collective bargaining must end.

Factor This Bill O’Reilly: Barack is a Commie

In Disappearing Ink, Harvard Math, Obamarama on 22/05/2010 at 19:14

Factor Host Bill O'Reilly (Wikipedia)

socialism |sō sh ə lizəm|
noun
a political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.
• policy or practice based on this theory.
• (in Marxist theory) a transitional social state between the overthrow of capitalism and the realization of communism.

Unlike many of my libertarian friends, I like Bill O’Reilly. In spite of his bombastic arrogance O’Reilly is an asset not only to the Fox News brand but to America as a whole, if for no other reason, his righteous indignation and his charitable giving. As he would say, Bill is a patriot.

On the other hand I have been mystified at O’Reilly’s inability to call Barack Obama a socialist when the President’s actions alone place him far to the left of the mainstream of American liberalism. Obama is not only a socialist; he displays all the symptoms of being a Marxist socialist. One merely has to know which Obama is speaking to know he is a socialist.

Meaning that he views socialism as a transitional step to a completely communist state.

In order to understand the national media’s seeming inability (although much of it is subterfuge) to accept an ace as an ace in Obama’s case – and I’m speaking here of honest journalists who simply don’t want to mislabel the President – one must recognize that communism’s first line of defense is denial.

No other ideology in history has use so many nom de guerres to avoid being exposed as communist. They call themselves humanitarians, progressives, liberals, social democrats, environmentalists, the New Left, Christians for Social justice, well, anything but communists.

Marxists – especially the politicians – hate to be outted. Socialism in a democratic society is an anathema and most of them – in recent years individuals like Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, and celebrities like Matt Damon – have avoided it like the plague. Socialist is a dirty word.

Notice I use the terms interchangeably: progressive, liberal, socialist or communist, the difference is only the degree to which they desire to expose themselves.

Alan Snyder has a good article on Whittaker Chambers this week at Big Government on the late Time magazine senior editor’s epiphany on this very subject.

Bill O’Reilly does his middleclass upbringing as well as his profession a disservice by refusing to come to terms with Barack Obama’s socialism, because the President is counting on the fact that the media will not out him.

I don’t believe Obama envisions himself as a future dictator. I believe he sees himself as an instrument or perhaps the instrument of U.S. social transition. The one who will put in place the apparatus that will eventually “elevate” the country to a utopian socialist society. He sees a communist government as the ultimate adjudicator of a racist, greed-driven and imperialistic society’s sins.

If the President is successful in gaining a second term he will accomplish his goal, because the course he will have put us on after a second term will be irreversible.

In the classic sense Bill O’Reilly is not an elitist but he has certainly bought into the elitist progressive agenda by not pegging Barack Obama into his hole as a socialist. Yes, Bill, Obama likes his wealth and his property. All socialist elitists believe they deserve it; they just don’t want you to have it.

O’Reilly needs to wise up to Obama. He is a powerful voice in America and he can do a lot toward shinning a light on the President’s motives and prevarications.

The Problem Isn’t The Spill – It’s The Drips That Report It

In Disappearing Ink on 08/05/2010 at 19:03

ABC's snarling news hound, Jake Tapper

ABC (the Anti-American Broadcasting Company) is reporting this morning that crucial safeguards in place on British Petroleum’s Deepwater Horizon oil rig failed when the rig exploded off the coast of Louisiana two weeks ago

The disingenuousness of television network news and the Obama administration it hocks for on a daily basis shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone by now, but the way media have massaged the spill in the Gulf to satisfy its left-wing political agenda is astounding.

Here are a couple of ways both the administration and the media are exploiting it:

First the size of the spill is being reported in gallons-per-day rather than barrels, in order to make the disaster appear more catastrophic. To a wing of New York news fairies that have never checked a dipstick in their entire lives 70,000 barrels of oil just doesn’t have the pizzazz that 3,000,000 gallons does.

In comparison, the Exxon Valdez dumped a total of 257,000 barrels (that’s 11 million gallons in news-speak), requiring a nasty cleanup effort that took 4 years to complete.

Unreported by the networks in the Valdez spill, however, is that Alaskan winter storms did more to clean up the mess than all of the government-mandated penitence Exxon paid for daring to be in the petroleum business.

In this latest television production British Petroleum is playing the Exxon role.

Not to minimize the human toll in the event or its eventual effect on Gulf Coast business; the damage will be significant, and undoubtedly BP will be found to have made mistakes in the end. But the public doesn’t seem to be buying this as the national disaster the media played up in the Valdez spill.

Secondly, where was the Obama administration when the well blew? What about the spill contingency plan they did not implement immediately? And what is it about these guys and their ski vacations and rafting trips? By now even some Democrats are calling Barack the “What Me Worry? President.”

So where is this red-meat media that practically accused George Bush of creating Katrina? Here’s Jake Tapper’s contribution: That Jake is a real counter-puncher! Okay, Tapper broke the story on Interior chief of staff Tom Strickland’s raft trip at the beginning of the crisis, but where oh where is the vitriol the networks handed out to the Bush administration night after night?

The Washington Post takes Obama to task with this headline: Oil Spill, Failed Bombing Offer Obama A Challenge Of Message, Management. Grrr! You guys are fierce guard dogs of the public trust.

Once again Obama was asleep at the switch, and we probably wouldn’t know that if it weren’t for the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Fox News, and Redstate.com.

When all is said and done the Deepwater Horizon spill could be worse than the Valdez, but it may not come anywhere close. Newsies love to talk potential when it involves the lives of cute little sea otters. The eleven dead guys on the platform don’t bother them much.

But the worst toll may be to US security. Media and the Left and are already using the Gulf disaster  to stop all future petroleum drilling off US coastal waters, even when part of every dollar US motorists spend on gas goes directly into the coffers of Osama bin Laden.

Osama became rich on American oil dollars and the media should be pounding that every night. Instead of cooing when Al Gore sends them housewarming invitations for his new seaside palace.
