Fox Dumps Joan Rivers After Snarky Palin Insult

In Bowling for Dollars, Sarah Palin, The Haters on 20/01/2011 at 06:52

Fox & Friends has dropped Joan Rivers from a guest appearance, after Rivers said she “partially” blamed Sarah Palin for the Tucson massacre, or so the comedienne claims.

“Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best?” River’s rep tells us a producer called to say they gave her the chop because of Joan’s comments.” Rivers was scheduled to appear with daughter Melissa today on the show to promote the new show.

However, the New York Times is floating the story as fact.

“I think Sarah Palin is an amazing woman. I think she represents everything a strong woman should be and she should go someplace, like to another planet, and show them and get out of our faces.” Asked if Ms. Palin was unfairly blamed for inciting the shooting of Representative Gabrielle Giffords in Tucson, Ms. Rivers replies, “They’re right to blame Sarah for the shootings,” adding: “This woman is just stupid and a threat.”

Fox & Friends has denied Rivers’ accusation.

It is not the first time Rivers has come to blows with Fox. After being shunted to the side by Johnny Carson as his replacement for the top-slotted “Tonight Show,” the comedienne opted to go head to head with NBC. It didn’t work out; Rivers’ “The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers” was cancelled by Fox, after less than a year for sagging ratings.

In a statement, Lauren Petterson, executive producer of “Fox and Friends,” said that Ms. Rivers’s removal from the show was an accident. “Due to the volume of news topics tomorrow morning and a full show,” Ms. Petterson said, “our booker mistakenly canceled Joan’s appearance instead of re-scheduling her for Friday’s show. We’re in the process of booking her on an upcoming show.”

But apparently Rivers isn’t buying it. Huffington Post is reporting now that the feud has boiled over to the degree that Rivers told the network to go f***k themselves.

We can always depend on Joan for class. Our apologies to the TSA. Please rescreen her as often as you like.
