What is most troubling about the Pentagon’s withdrawal of Graham’s invitation is why they did it. Not simply for what some feel are the evangelist’s PC violations regarding Islam, but because they fear his presence at the breakfast may provoke a terrorist attack.
This is a defining moment in the annals of PC insanity not to mention military history. For at least five years Hasan ran around military bases making radical-Islamic, anti-American statements, and carrying on a pen pal relationship with American born terrorist Anwar Al-Awlaki, all with the Army’s knowledge. Yet at the very suggestion that one Baptist preacher might insight a terrorist attack they run for the foxhole.
Let’s get this out of the way first. I have studied cults for decades. Graham’s statement after the 9-11 attacks, that Islam is a religion of hate, was spot on accurate. He made no such statement about Muslim people as a whole.
Graham’s understanding of Islam comes from experience. He has spent a great deal of time in the Muslim world drilling water wells and delivering food to starving – you guessed it – Muslims.
If you are a Jew with any experience with Islamic culture you may metaphorically shake your robes at Franklin Graham’s emphatic pronouncements that Jesus Christ is Meshiach, but you will wildly embrace his views of Islam.
Whether or not the current upward surge of Islamic extremism represents the average Muslim’s views is irrelevant in the grand scheme, where Americans are concerned. Radicalized Islam is the voice of Islam as a whole.
Where is the outrage in the Muslim world community over the thousands of atrocities perpetrated globally by jihadists each year? They remain and will remain silent. We must leave it to speculation as to whether their silence is borne out of fear of reprisal or agreement with the jihadists, we will never know.
Here the dissimilarity between Muslim and Judeo-Christian morality and ethics is overwhelming.
When Timothy McVeigh carried out the Oklahoma City Bombing, Christian and Jewish outrage was universal. http://www.theamericanview.com/index.php?id=1189 We don’t tolerate these monsters in our faiths. Simon Wiesenthal vocally condemned Jewish Nazi collaborators after the Holocaust, not that many survived. Where has there been similar outrage in Islam?
Franklin Graham is a great American, following in the footsteps of a man who was a “pastor” to every American president from Harry S. Truman to George W. Bush. His place at the Pentagon prayer service should be secure as a representative for his father alone.
Barack Obama invited a terrorist-linked Muslim cleric to make the invocation at his inauguration. It is more than a little disturbing that Graham, who is yet to have financed one terrorist, can’t be tolerated at a taxpayer funded prayer service.
The Pentagon’s blind eye to Hasan and mistreatment of Graham show just how far the pandemic of political correctness has spread in the ranks of government. It belies the very reason we are waging this war, which is to fight tyranny and openly express our beliefs without fear of government or religious reprisal.
