Systemic Failure Number 453.1

Profiling |ˈprōˌfīli ng | |ˈproʊˈfaɪlɪŋ| noun – The recording and analysis of a person’s psychological and behavioral characteristics, so as to assess or predict their capabilities in a certain sphere or to assist in identifying a particular subgroup of people.

Lt General Tom McInerney was on Fox News, this weekend, and he outlined a plan for intercepting terrorist suspects before they can board an airliner and eat a complimentary meal before they die. The plan includes advanced screening, including profiling Muslim men between the ages of 18 and 25, and conducting strip searches on them. It’s not brain surgery. However, anchor Julie Bandaras went apoplectic when she heard it. “We can’t do that!” Bandaras huffed. “That’s racial profiling!”

True to form, Bandaras makes about as much sense as a busload of Code Pinkers at a bachelor party. Ms. Bandaras’ rationale follows: If we profile them it will make them hate us. CALL MSNBC NOW! Keith Olbermann needs a co-host! Someone told me not long ago that a university degree today is the educational equivalent of a 1910 high school diploma, and now I believe it.

Ms. Bandaras’ leftwing education aside, it’s a sure bet the Obama Administration will use profiling to identify Southern Baptist seminary students on their way home for spring break, but I doubt they’ll find any PETN explosives in their Jockey shorts.

Fact Number 1: Lack of profiling in the Northwest 253 bombing case was the last in a long line of “systemic failures” (where does Obama get this crap?) that weren’t in place last week.

Fact Number 2: Psychological profiling hasn’t been implemented into our public transportation security since long before 9-11. Instead Airport security personnel have been strip-searching 80-year-old men and confiscating bottles breast milk from suspicious housewives.

Fact Number 3: The “system worked” because the bomb didn’t go off, and only because it didn’t go off.

Fact Number 4: If we don’t start profiling now, hundreds, if not thousands, will die.

HotAir.Com: War Correspondent Arrested At Seattle Airport – Thank goodness our Homeland Security people are on the job after the EunuchBomber botched attack on Christmas Day. We certainly don’t want to have independent war correspondents passing through our airports without revealing their annual income:

WSJ: OBAMA PICKS ‘N’ CHOOSES – Dozens of Names Shifted to No-Fly List– The Obama administration has transferred dozens of names from a broad terrorism database to watch lists that are more closely monitored in an effort to plug security holes revealed by the Christmas Day airline-bombing attempt.

TIMES LONDON: Jordanian Suicide Bomber Who Killed CIA Agents ‘Was Triple Agent’ – The Jordanian suicide bomber who killed several CIA agents in Afghanistan last week fooled Amman’s intelligence agency into believing that he was a reliable informant spying on the al-Qaeda leadership.

AP: Tensions Grow As US Heightens Role In Yemen – SAN’A, Yemen (AP) – Friction emerged Tuesday in the growing alliance with the Yemeni government as the U.S. Embassy ended a two-day closure triggered by a terror threat from al-Qaida.
