Shuck, Baby, Shuck: Obama’s Jive Energy Policy

In Bowling for Dollars, Harvard Math, Obamarama on 14/03/2011 at 07:52

The big question in conservative circles these days is whether or not Barack Obama is an ideological genius determined to destroy the economy, or a naïve narcissist who couldn’t tie his shoelaces without instructions. The President’s theory on energy is a case in point.

The seriousness of the situation in the Middle East cannot be exaggerated; the potential that Yemen, Kuwait, Qatar or even Saudi Arabia may eventually fall pray to radical Islam is very real. But the more pressing matter, at least for the moment, is that prolonged unrest in the region may continue to adversely impact oil prices here at home.

Yet in the face of all evidence to the contrary the President remains loyal to a “green” energy policy that continues to hamper job growth and threatens to put the U.S. in a potentially catastrophic position, should even one OPEC nation fall to an Iranian-style theocracy.

On the one hand it is ludicrous to believe that Obama doesn’t know that green energy is a myth; the technology has not yet been developed that comes close to seriously competing with fossil fuel as a staple energy source. Even the most liberal expert on energy development knows that biofuel is decades away from reaching that goal. And beyond the feasibility is the possibility that biofuel does more harm than good; that its greatest effect may be a negative impact on world hunger.

So it would seem clear that something else is going on, i.e. that the President is deliberately trying to collapse the economy by, among other things, creating an oil dearth. This is a theory that both Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck have floated.

The argument is still not convincing. Just when Barack Obama starts to look like an evil genius, the likes of which exits only in fiction, he comes off with a shuck-n-jive theory that defies credulity.

“[R]ight now, the industry holds leases on tens of millions of acres –- both offshore and on land –- where they aren’t producing a thing,” The President informed us in his weekly address. “So I’ve directed the Interior Department to determine just how many of these leases are going undeveloped … People deserve to know that the energy they depend on is being developed in a timely manner.”

There goes the Dr. Strangelove theory right out the window. Even Bill Clinton, no friend to Hummer driving capitalists, recognizes that restrictions on offshore drilling must be relaxed immediately, if the nation’s economy is to be set on course for recovery.

The tracts that the petroleum industry have left undeveloped remain so largely because they have either proved geographically to be low-yield or financially prohibitive for immediate recovery. Technology improves annually, and oil companies often lease sites based on the prospects of future technological gains. In other words, Shell wants to lock up as many as prospective tracts as it can before Texaco grabs them. But even with advances in technology, land and offshore petroleum exploration is at best a crapshoot. In is not rational to assume that large recoverable reserves lie under every square foot of land permitted, or even under most of it.

Hundreds of years of fossil fuel exist within the boundaries of the continental United States and Alaska. Much more exits off our shores being sucked up by nations unfriendly to America.

Whether Barack Obama is an entrenched ideologue or a political neophyte is irrelevant at this point. By failing to release restrictions on domestic drilling, both offshore and on land, he is placing the United States in the precarious position of have to rely on the unreliable.

Medved Turns on Limbaugh-Palin, Feeds Left’s Disinformation Machine

In Civil Lefts, Disappearing Ink, Obamarama, Palinography, Sarah Palin, The Wrong Right Turn on 15/02/2011 at 21:42

Oh no you didn’t! Michael Medved, who came to fame as a conservative commentator when Hollywood dumped him for taking the industry to task on content, joined the chorus of clueless Republicans to go off on Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin today, calling their criticisms of Barack Obama “especially distasteful — and destructive to the conservative cause.”

In his WSJ op-ed, “Obama Isn’t Trying to ‘Weaken America,’” Medved laments conservatives who think Obama has less than honorable intentions for the nation. Which explains why conservatives are burning up the airwaves to dial out his daily radio program to listen to Limbaugh, who, incidentally, gave Medved his start in talk radio. Happy Valentines Day, Rush.

Palin and Limbaugh, both of whose stock seems to increase by the nanosecond, have been pointedly critical of Obama as possibly purposely undermining the government. Theirs is not an isolated position; Glenn Beck has floated the theory that Obama is a proponent of the Cloward-Piven strategy to collapse the American republic into a democratic socialist state-type government.

The thing is, the evidence is on Limbaugh and Palin’s side. Whether Obama is deliberately trying to collapse the government or not, he has employed both Saul Alinsky and Cloward-Piven strategies consistently from the beginning of his term. His takeover of the American healthcare system is a classic example of the former; he used Alinsky’s Rules For Radicals, rules numbers 5, 8 and 10 in pushing through his package, and continues to use rule 11 now to implement it.

As honorable as Medved’s intentions may be, in publishing the attack on his conservative radio mentor and the former vice presidential candidate, he is fueling the Left’s disinformation machine by giving weight to the spurious argument that their criticisms are fantastical.

Medved piously declares:

Moreover, the current insistence in seeing every misstep or setback by the Obama administration as part of a diabolical master plan for national destruction disregards the powerful reverence for the White House that’s been part of our national character for two centuries.

Which of course plays right into Obama’s hands. By joining the lines of moon howlers on the left who suggest that Limbaugh and Palin are among the loonies propagating malicious or ignorant untruths about the President, Medved strings swimmingly to the tune of Alinsky’s fifth rule. Make them look ridiculous with ridicule.

But Medved doesn’t let conservative loyalty get in his way:

Regardless of the questionable pop psychology of this analysis, as a political strategy it qualifies as almost perfectly imbecilic. Republicans already face a formidable challenge in convincing a closely divided electorate that the president pursues wrong-headed policies.

Oh really?

Currently only 29 percent of voters approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president; nearly 40 percent strongly disapprove. Fifty-seven percent are for the repeal of health care, and similar numbers disapprove of his stance on immigration, cap and trade and just about every foreign policy decision he has made. Workers in the Gulf Coast petroleum industry are on the verge of revolt because of his drilling moratorium.

If the Republicans have a problem selling their message in 2012, one is safe to bet that it will be John Boehner, Mitt Romney, or dare I say Michael Medved, who miss-sell it, not Plain or Limbaugh.

The fact remains that whether or not Barack Obama is trying to harm the nation, he is without question doing just that, and what is decidedly not needed at this juncture, is another inside-the-box Republican to help him with his task.

How Could I Forget? It’s Draw Mohammed Day!

In The American Jihad, The Enemy Among Us on 20/05/2010 at 18:08

Mohammed, moments before he ascended to heaven

I’ve been so busy rearranging my life that I almost forgot it is Draw Mohammed Day in America. I don’t have the software to demonstrate my considerable artistic prowess, but I pinched the rendering on the right. It’s a takeoff on the old Art Instruction Inc. magazine ads. Interestingly enough I am an alumnus of the school. Got straight A’s.

Above all, I wanted to show my solidarity with the thousands of other U.S. bloggers who are sick and tired of reading New York Times editorials deifying a 7th century pervert who lived to kills Jews and brutalize women.

To offended media editors and news anchors everywhere: Gee, I’m sorry. I just thought that, since you’ve treated Jesus and Jews like crash test dummies for 80 years, that Mohammed should get equal treatment under the Fairness Doctrine you’re trying to resurrect to silence Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck.

Offended Muslims everywhere should consider this a fund-raising opportunity. Just think, now CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood can enlist ACORN to solicit donations for fertilizer and nails door-to-door and maybe even get government funding.

Lastly, I wanted to do this before Barack Obama confiscates guns. I don’t mind dying for liberty and freedom of speech but I at least want a fighting chance to take a few Diaper Heads with me.

Think on the bright side: So far not one U.S. Christian or Jew has bombed a liquor store.

HAPPY DRAW MOHAMMED DAY!
