Palin Staffer Sells Out for the Big Bucks

In Disappearing Ink, Palinography, Sarah Palin on 21/02/2011 at 17:30

Frank Bailey worked his way into Sarah Palin’s favor as a volunteer in her campaign for governor of Alaska, to become one her closest advisors in that office. He has since “been forced to reconsider his actions on Palin’s behalf in terms of his deep Christian faith … ” for money.

For the second time since Sarah Palin left him behind upon her resignation, Bailey is shopping a “tell-all” of his years as a staff member in her office. This time he has secured the services of New York literary agent Carol Mann to pedal his trashy opus, “Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin: A Memoir of our Tumultuous Years.”

According to some in the publishing industry Bailey stands to make as much as $100,000 up front, and between $500,000 and $1 million in total for his scandalous tell-all.

In his quest for publication, from the get-go, Bailey plays fast and loose with the facts, by alleging that Palin made a political appointment to the state Supreme Court as personal payoff. The former staffer claims that the governor appointed a pro-choice judge rather than pro-lifer to the state Supreme Court for ruling in her sister’s favor in her custody dispute with state trooper Mike Wooten.

The dispute between Wooten and his then wife, Molly, Palin’s sister, resulted in the “Trooper-Gate” scandal, which was concocted by DNC operatives in the media to derail the 2008 McCain-Palin campaign. The fact is, both of the judges eligible for the appointment to the court were pro-choice, and the one Palin ultimately selected was never assigned to her sister’s custody case.

With that kind of command of the facts, Bailey may be able to secure a recently opened anchor position at MSNBC when book sales die down.

There will no doubt be more leaks in days to come, all designed to interest Random House et al.

One reason Bailey’s previous book failed to attract a publisher was that he was playing in the big pool—the ultimate mud puddle. Virtually every disreputable writer and journalist in America has taken an underhanded shot a Palin over the last two and a half years; even heretofore mainstream journalists have not been able to resist the temptation to go tabloid where the beautiful conservative firebrand is concerned.

In this era of microwavable success where—in the words of Tom Petty—“it seems people want to … start at ‘American Idol’ and go on to some form of instant fame from there,” what Bailey is attempting to do has been almost legitimized. Much of it may be the result of under teaching morality and ethics in our schools, but more often than not it is simply laziness. For a man like Bailey, who missed the “brass ring” on the Palin bandwagon, writing a tell-all probably seemed like easy way back into the game.

In the end, of course, he is just a bottom feeder like the others who sell out those who trusted them with their most closely guarded secrets, or who pedal thinly veiled lies for a price.

Frank Bailey will sell his manuscript this time, if for no other reason than the fact that nothing else has worked in the Left’s attempt to destroy Sarah Palin. He will have no integrity left but he will, like Scott McClellan before him, have momentary albeit fleeting success.

And then he will join the legions of others who have bitten the hands that fed them, and become an ugly footnote in the history of a great life.

Palin Taps Campaign Chief for 2012

In Palinography, Reaganology, Sarah Palin on 13/02/2011 at 06:59

I’m not going to begin to second-guess Sarah Palin here, but selecting Michael Glassner as the new head of Sarah PAC seems a bizarre choice. Especially in light of the fact that Glassner’s name is attached to two of the most disastrous presidential bids in modern GOP history: Robert Dole in 1996 and John McCain in 2008.

The 2008 campaign was particularly perplexing for yours truly because I tried repeatedly to get access to the McCain website during the 2008 campaign and never succeeded. They reset my password 20 times before I gave up. That—and this was only halfway into the campaign—was when I knew McCain was too disorganized to win.

As usual the left-stream media will have a field day with this.

Still, I am convinced that this woman marches to the beat of a different drum, which is most likely her political appeal in the first place. Snubbing CPAC four years in a row would probably be suicide for any other conservative on the planet yet the American Conservative Union, who sponsor the event, can’t seem to get enough of her.

Both Politico and Slate see Glassner’s hiring as a first step in a 2012 run, but, frankly, these guys are always quoting each other. What is clear now was clear last week; the Governor is thinking about running.

Glassner was the McCain senior vice presidential advisor for McCain 2008, which is all the more disturbing, since Palin had to sneak a call in the middle of the night just to speak with Bill O’Reilly. She did not appear on the O’Reilly Factor during the campaign.

Who knows, maybe the guy has been looking for a racehorse all these years and has finally found one who can really run. Hey, it’ll work out.

Ya gotta love the mainstream coverage of all this, though.

ABC News is already putting a negative spin on the idea that Palin may be gearing up for 2012, reporting that CPAC attendees don’t miss her at the conference. Which of course is why CPAC hired a Palin impersonator.

Yahoo was the most encouraging. Recent speeches such as those at the Safari Club International convention and the Young America’s Foundation centennial celebration of Ronald Reagan show Palin can still command a room. She received standing ovations at both places.

Gee, ya think?

I like Jimmy McMillan’s take on Sarah best.

The Daily Palin

In Disappearing Ink, Palinography, Sarah Palin, The Wrong Right Turn on 10/02/2011 at 20:23

Suddenly Sarah Palin is the darling of neoconservatives and liberal Republicans everywhere. I am breathless. This is astounding news. Our Sarah has finally united the right and the, er … not so right but in the general vicinity of the right.

The good news came upon the announcement by Tucker Carlson’s Daily Caller that Governor Palin now supports gay marriage, gay adoption, and coming out parties at Elaine’s, or something to that effect. No word at this hour whether Tucker still wants Michael Vick executed.

Of course Palin didn’t say any of that, any more than she said she supported GOProud joining CPAC. What she said was that she doesn’t care. Which is really, really close to announcing the scientific discovery of a homosexuality gene.

The media have been on a relentless campaign for the last week to nail Palin to the floor on what someone like Diane Sawyer I’m sure thinks of as a no-win question: Does Sarah Palin condone the practice of homosexuality or not?

Because, of course, anyone with half a brain knows that Governor Palin, being a born-again Christian, is a whack job who couldn’t find her ass with a road map. This is a big story in network television and mainstream e-print news. Almost as big a scoop as Rick Santorum declaring that Governor Palin is probably too busy to attend CPAC. That is, it would be, if most conservatives actually knew who Rick Santorum is.

Honestly, you would think that the left-stream media would wake up and realize that they raise Palin’s stock every time they open their traps about her. Last week it was the cooked up contest between the Governor and Ron Reagan Jr., and now this. (It should be noted here that matching off Sarah Palin with Ron Reagan Jr. is like pitting a pit bull against a Pekinese).

But they keep on keeping on.

Not speaking for Governor Palin here, but conservatives as a whole simply don’t believe in identity politics. Liberals have things like Congressional Black Caucuses and the NAACP. Conservatives believe in the advancement of everybody, whether gay or straight, black or white or something in between, or 60 as the new 40 for that matter.

Now we understand that in someone like Alan Combs’ world not being for gay marriage is roughly the equivalent of holding gay beatings at Wednesday night prayer meeting. But why does The Daily Caller get caught up in this silliness?

Sarah Palin has been clever in not allowing herself to be baited by the left this week and the media’s underestimation of her political skills has served her well.

We really like The Daily Caller and Tucker Carlson, but you’d think they’d be running with Mubarak in Egypt instead of this poorly cooked tripe.
