Shirley Sherrod Shoots for a Second Payday in Pigford

In Can You Hear Me Now?, Civil Lefts, Obamarama on 17/02/2011 at 17:55

If I see another portrait of Shirley Sherrod looking into the heavens in the glow of angelic lighting, like she just had a visitation from MLK, I am positively going to hurl.

This Sears size 16 tribute to the “Lazy Man’s Way to Riches” flimflammed her way into the low eight-figure bracket on the Pigford Settlement pyramid, and now she’s found a new way to make a quick buck without lifting a finger—sue Andrew Breitbart.

Which is what Mrs. Sherrod did this week after Breitbart released his latest salvo of evidence in the billion-dollar Democratic Party Pigford reparations scam.

“This lawsuit is not about politics or race,” Sherrod told the George Soros front Media Matters. “It is not about Right versus Left, the NAACP, or the Tea Party. It is about how quickly, in today’s internet media environment, a person’s good name can become ‘collateral damage’ in an overheated political debate.”

Which of course is true.

While the left has combed CNN and MSNBC’s archives for one single fragment of racist film on the tea parties, Breitbart found the video lying right under his nose. No, wait—that was the NAACP applauding enthusiastically when Sherrod, a ranking USDA official, suggested that a white farmer should go to “his own kind” for help.

You will remember Breitbart releasing the video last year showing Sherrod speaking before a regional NAACP crowd and the crowd’s disturbing response to her confession of racism. In the resulting scandal the White House pressured Mrs. Sherrod to resign from her high post at the USDA.

Background courtesy Townhall.com:

After the video broke, due to pressure from the Obama administration, Sherrod resigned; the NAACP also condemned her. Shortly thereafter, the NAACP released the full tape, which showed that Sherrod had in fact helped the white farmer at issue. In full attack mode, the leftist media went after Breitbart, accusing him of selectively editing the tape in order to target Sherrod. This despite the fact that Breitbart himself said he cared nothing about Sherrod and that his actual target was the NAACP; this despite the fact that Sherrod herself said the real problem was the Obama administration.

Let’s not be duped by Sherrod here; the former bureaucrat is not entirely innocent in all this, although she obviously was forced out of her government post without due process. But Sherrod, who cashed in on Pigford to the tune of $13 million, is not suing the government. She’s suing Breitbart the man who exposed racism within her beloved NAACP.

Will the hypocrisy never end? While hundreds of black farmers who were discriminated against by the USDA have been left out in the cold, thousands who never farmed a turnip patch in their backyards have collected huge sums of taxpayers’ dollars, and are demanding more.

Shirley Sherrod should be ashamed of herself.

Rand Paul: The Night the Lights Went Out in Kentucky?

In The Racist Right, The Way Far Right, The Wrong Right Turn on 25/05/2010 at 18:22

In allowing himself to be sucked into a discussion on 1964 Civil Rights Act, last week, Rand Paul set himself up for failure. Not that he will fail in Kentucky’s general election in November, but he set himself up for it, if he does.

Whether his comments were a simple lack of political savvy or outright racist – and I don’t believe that for a second – the mainstream media will certainly levy the implication of the latter, day after day, until the story loses its legs. Wacko lefties will come out of the woodwork. The impression will be fixed in many voters’ minds like a glaring, Pulitzer-winning photo from a 1960s Life magazine cover. The one where Southern cops are siccing their dogs on defenseless Negros.

And the Tea Party movement will suffer.

Sheer stupidity.

The purist ideology of libertarianism is like Marxism – it looks good on paper. I understand Rand’s views on government enlargement and intrusion into American lives; they are noble and most of them are right.

But the fact remains that an entire population of this country in 1964 was being shut out of American life. The Supremes, the biggest girl group in history, who knocked the Beatles Revolver album out of the Number 1 spot on Billboard, couldn’t get a decent room in the South. With all of their wealth and fame they could not eat in a downtown Atlanta restaurant.

That was simply wrong and the government had to act. Yes, one should have the right to refuse service to anyone, but not to the exclusion of a race. The Church in America had 100 years in which to rectify that crime and it did not act.

And ironically, the law opened up the very can of worms that Paul and other libertarians are now protesting. The Civil Rights Act became a springboard for the government to bash its way into every aspect of private life in the country.

No one in this country detests charlatans like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson more than I. I believe they are opportunists who have little sincere regard for everyday African Americans. In a perfect world I would like every Muslim in this country deported to Azerbaijan.

But I don’t get those rights. They are un-American. They have a right to shop in the same stores and eat in the same restaurants that I do.

The Ku Klux Klan and the Democratic Party ruled the American South with an iron, racist fist from Reconstruction until the mid 1960s, and it would be that way today had not the government stepped in and made it right.

The government should not have had to step in, but as I previously said, good Americans failed to act.

Rand Paul may survive in Kentucky and I hope he does. But this should be a civics lesson for all of us who want smaller government. Someone has to guard the rights of the oppressed and down trodden. It should be us, but when it is not, a government – some government –will.

WATCH FOR ILLEGAL VOTING SURGE IN NOVEMBER

In Bowling for Dollars on 24/05/2010 at 19:13

Illegal Hatian Voter Vandamme Jeanty

In the 2008 presidential election, between 1.2 and 2.8 million illegal aliens voted in the U.S. Local, state, and at least some federal contests were decided by these votes.

These voters were presumably longtime residents in their respective districts, who for one reason or another had not obtained legal residency through the plethora of loopholes in federal law. They have driver’s licenses and social security numbers, often counterfeit or purloined but in many cases genuine.

This is all okay with Democrat leadership in Washington and certainly tolerated by many Republicans.

For years Congress has known that illegals are voting and has failed to act. Republicans and Democrats alike have treated this issue like a third-rail and the media have all but refused to cover the story.

The now infamous Dornan-Sanchez congressional race during the 1990s was almost certainly the cause of Republican Bob Dornan’s defeat. Nearly 900 illegals are known to have voted in that small congressional race and many more are suspected.

As I write illegals are walking door-to-door in the streets of America taking the 2010 census. MS-13 gang members are crossing the border at will transporting illegals and drugs and murdering Americans.

Don’t it make you nostalgic for the days when the Teflon Don only clipped his mob enemies?

This year illegals across the U.S. will vote in record numbers and sway elections if Senator Chuck Schumer and Barney Frank have their way.

Like the Motor-Voter Law the Universal Voter Registration Law is just one more step toward erasing any remembrance of what it means to be an American. Illegal voting is becoming a trend and it must be stopped now.

Email, call, or write your congressman and senators today and urge them to stop Universal Voter Registration in federal and state law.
