Palin Staffer Sells Out for the Big Bucks

In Disappearing Ink, Palinography, Sarah Palin on 21/02/2011 at 17:30

Frank Bailey worked his way into Sarah Palin’s favor as a volunteer in her campaign for governor of Alaska, to become one her closest advisors in that office. He has since “been forced to reconsider his actions on Palin’s behalf in terms of his deep Christian faith … ” for money.

For the second time since Sarah Palin left him behind upon her resignation, Bailey is shopping a “tell-all” of his years as a staff member in her office. This time he has secured the services of New York literary agent Carol Mann to pedal his trashy opus, “Blind Allegiance to Sarah Palin: A Memoir of our Tumultuous Years.”

According to some in the publishing industry Bailey stands to make as much as $100,000 up front, and between $500,000 and $1 million in total for his scandalous tell-all.

In his quest for publication, from the get-go, Bailey plays fast and loose with the facts, by alleging that Palin made a political appointment to the state Supreme Court as personal payoff. The former staffer claims that the governor appointed a pro-choice judge rather than pro-lifer to the state Supreme Court for ruling in her sister’s favor in her custody dispute with state trooper Mike Wooten.

The dispute between Wooten and his then wife, Molly, Palin’s sister, resulted in the “Trooper-Gate” scandal, which was concocted by DNC operatives in the media to derail the 2008 McCain-Palin campaign. The fact is, both of the judges eligible for the appointment to the court were pro-choice, and the one Palin ultimately selected was never assigned to her sister’s custody case.

With that kind of command of the facts, Bailey may be able to secure a recently opened anchor position at MSNBC when book sales die down.

There will no doubt be more leaks in days to come, all designed to interest Random House et al.

One reason Bailey’s previous book failed to attract a publisher was that he was playing in the big pool—the ultimate mud puddle. Virtually every disreputable writer and journalist in America has taken an underhanded shot a Palin over the last two and a half years; even heretofore mainstream journalists have not been able to resist the temptation to go tabloid where the beautiful conservative firebrand is concerned.

In this era of microwavable success where—in the words of Tom Petty—“it seems people want to … start at ‘American Idol’ and go on to some form of instant fame from there,” what Bailey is attempting to do has been almost legitimized. Much of it may be the result of under teaching morality and ethics in our schools, but more often than not it is simply laziness. For a man like Bailey, who missed the “brass ring” on the Palin bandwagon, writing a tell-all probably seemed like easy way back into the game.

In the end, of course, he is just a bottom feeder like the others who sell out those who trusted them with their most closely guarded secrets, or who pedal thinly veiled lies for a price.

Frank Bailey will sell his manuscript this time, if for no other reason than the fact that nothing else has worked in the Left’s attempt to destroy Sarah Palin. He will have no integrity left but he will, like Scott McClellan before him, have momentary albeit fleeting success.

And then he will join the legions of others who have bitten the hands that fed them, and become an ugly footnote in the history of a great life.

Palin Taps Campaign Chief for 2012

In Palinography, Reaganology, Sarah Palin on 13/02/2011 at 06:59

I’m not going to begin to second-guess Sarah Palin here, but selecting Michael Glassner as the new head of Sarah PAC seems a bizarre choice. Especially in light of the fact that Glassner’s name is attached to two of the most disastrous presidential bids in modern GOP history: Robert Dole in 1996 and John McCain in 2008.

The 2008 campaign was particularly perplexing for yours truly because I tried repeatedly to get access to the McCain website during the 2008 campaign and never succeeded. They reset my password 20 times before I gave up. That—and this was only halfway into the campaign—was when I knew McCain was too disorganized to win.

As usual the left-stream media will have a field day with this.

Still, I am convinced that this woman marches to the beat of a different drum, which is most likely her political appeal in the first place. Snubbing CPAC four years in a row would probably be suicide for any other conservative on the planet yet the American Conservative Union, who sponsor the event, can’t seem to get enough of her.

Both Politico and Slate see Glassner’s hiring as a first step in a 2012 run, but, frankly, these guys are always quoting each other. What is clear now was clear last week; the Governor is thinking about running.

Glassner was the McCain senior vice presidential advisor for McCain 2008, which is all the more disturbing, since Palin had to sneak a call in the middle of the night just to speak with Bill O’Reilly. She did not appear on the O’Reilly Factor during the campaign.

Who knows, maybe the guy has been looking for a racehorse all these years and has finally found one who can really run. Hey, it’ll work out.

Ya gotta love the mainstream coverage of all this, though.

ABC News is already putting a negative spin on the idea that Palin may be gearing up for 2012, reporting that CPAC attendees don’t miss her at the conference. Which of course is why CPAC hired a Palin impersonator.

Yahoo was the most encouraging. Recent speeches such as those at the Safari Club International convention and the Young America’s Foundation centennial celebration of Ronald Reagan show Palin can still command a room. She received standing ovations at both places.

Gee, ya think?

I like Jimmy McMillan’s take on Sarah best.

How Obama Failed: He Lost the Key

In Harvard Math, Obamacare, Obamarama on 08/11/2010 at 17:43

Along about the time Barack and Michelle Obama’s worldwide vacation ends in January 2012, the massive cost to the American taxpayer for the President’s spendulus package will be sinking in. Hopefully House Republicans will have by then defunded Obamacare but, if not, insurance premiums will be at least triple what they were when he “fixed” health care.

To what do we attribute this gargantuan bloating of the U.S. economy?

On “60 Minutes with Barack Obama” this week the President told us. He didn’t get the cooperation he expected from Republicans and he failed to “persuade” us that he was right about health care and we were wrong.

Well, that clears it up. Barry went on to explain that he lost the key to the House conference room when he and Nancy Pelosi’s Democratic committee “negotiated” the health care bill. It is absolutely untrue that Republicans were locked out. And, by the way, his current trip to Asia is not costing $200,000,000 a day. It’s only costing $50,000,000 a day. Period. A steal. Let’s see, 565 rooms times … What’s the exchange rate on rupees?

And I used to call Bill Clinton the Bart Simpson President.

Meanwhile, El Presidente and Hill Democrats are still insisting that the rich—that would be you—must pay hirer taxes. According to WSJ this week: “Obama again proposed a permanent extension of tax breaks for middle-class Americans, and rejected a permanent extension of higher-earner rates, citing deficit concerns.” After all we have to pay for the Mumbai trip.

What we have here is a changed man, I tell you.
